Projector delivers spectacular picture right out of the box. Would recommend the 100" - 120" cinematic ALR screen for the best picture quality especially if you have possible lighting concerns (overhead lights, many windows, etc.). Excessive room lighting would require going up to an projector with greater lumens. Since my 7.2.2 theater is located in the basement (3 small windows), it is plenty bright enough.
There's plenty of G rated content out there for the kids.
Technical Support is very helpful with set-up and troubleshooting any problems you might encounter. They are patient and stay with you until the issue is resolved.
One setting I’ve had to use constantly is the “Manual correction” setting to adjust the image on my screen due to the projector screen misaligning from time to time. It has 8 points of adjustment which work decently, but can leave gaps in between the points.
I also found that the Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation or “MEMC” mode was better turned off during TV and movies. These modes are used to inject A.I. generated frames, which causes the images to look way more fluid than they should, to the point where it is uncanny. It looks at lot better just having it turned off, and I haven’t experienced any problems with my image quality without it.
Movies and TV can be a bit too loud indoors by default and can have too much bass which makes it hard to hear actors when the “Sound Mode” is set to “Standard”. I’ve corrected it by switching to “Movie” mode which is perfect for TV and movies.
I would definitely recommend this projector, paired with a good screen and a dark enough room, for those that want the movie or stadium experience without having to leave their home.
This projector is awesome for home entertainment and would be a great choice for those with large AND small viewing spaces since you can just move it closer to get a smaller size but I will touch on the smaller size.
It delivers clear visuals with crisp detail and great colors. I was blown away that I could see it just as easily in the day as I could with a normal tv without an optional screen.
It is very quiet during operation, no annoying fan noise disruptions that you have to raise the volume to cover over.
Speaking of volume, it has great sound quality. Very rich which I did not expect out of that at all.
As someone who already has a projector, I expected it to be a lot smaller, so I was surprised with the size. It is not small compared to some projectors you can get, but it is pretty compact for what it provides in options and picture quality. It is a pretty sleek design and looks good on the TV stand. I have set it up to try it as an extra pc monitor to look at market charts and also to play movies from my PC.
It is fast starting up with no wasted time for the device to initialize and the included remote enhances the overall experience with its fast navigation through menus and settings.
While this unit is awesome, given the cost of the unit, it not be the best choice for smaller spaces where a smaller, traditional 4K TV would be more practical, I would say it would be best for very large areas. I myself right now have a smaller space due to renovations and I couldn't use it to its full size yet, and used it closer to the wall that I still have to do over that is pink and has brush strokes, nails, uneven plaster, etc., and it still looked great. I probably would go for this over a tv if it did fit my budget as then I can move it to wherever I want and watch it on the ceiling in bed or on the couch.
I do have 3D glasses since I do have a 3D TV, but I cannot find my glasses since the move so I couldn't test those to see if they were compatible or to see what the 3D is like.
I didn't expect it to come with a 4K Amazon Fire stick so that was pretty awesome to have included.
I have included a still image and a video (removed the sound incase of copyright). There may be flickers but it is the series Fallout which is supposed to look that way and look awesome on it. Keep in mind it is on a pink wall I also have it close to the wall here. I may in the future get their screen to pair with it but I am good even without it.
It is a luxury projector is great for those with spacious settings, with great performance, colour and brightness. It's expensive but as a projector, I recommend it but I do think even with its amazing performance, it is still a bit pricy.

I was a bit hesitant about getting a UST without an ALR. I took my chance and wanted to show the quality of the picture! The picture is awesome even during the day, the brightness even during the day without an ALR. I wanted to push the picture size limit in my 2 story room and the picture is still amazing! Happy with this purchase.
Most people seem to be using this for a dedicated home theatre setup and it will work well! But some of the features are specifically designed for a more casual setting and this is where it can truly shine.
As much as it is impressive what it can do. It has a few quirks and features missing that I wouldn’t expect from a top tier projector. And only 1 year warranty (+1 year extended warranty) is somewhat concerning.
SETUP
It’s ultra short throw so you can quite easily set it up in any room. You don’t have to worry about a spot far from the wall to place it, you just put it right on the floor at the base of the wall just make sure it’s big enough!
The image settings do allow for rear projection and ceiling mounting, but this thing is HUGE so the latter may prove more difficult.
The image goes as small as 50in however the closer to the wall you go, the more little bumps, dents and curves in the wall distort the image. Keep in mind there’s also no ability to change the height of the image so your options can become more limited.
It truly is an all in one device, with decent sound built in, handy if you’re setting up for a simple movie night. But if you have a fixed setup you will appreciate your own sound system.
Unfortunately Bluetooth paring only allows one set of headphones at a time.
PACKUP & STORAGE
This thing is HUGE. So if you are opting for a temporary setup or at least semi temporary you’re going to have issues storing it. Theres no lens cover and no storage bag or dust cover that comes with it, and the box is approx 2.5 x 1.5 x 1ft!
VISUAL QUALITY
This projector is quite incredible. The visual quality is truly outstanding. It’s bright enough to use in a well lit room and can be further improved by using an ALR screen.
The focus is all controlled digitally which is somewhat a concern in case it fails. The screen it uses to focus is also just some boxes in the corners that don’t give you much visual detail to fine tune it.
In a dark room it is incredibly bright and can hurt your eyes initially. I am quite pleased that there is an auto shut off if it detects movement close to the device that should serve well to protect young but inquisitive eyes.
AMBIENT LIGHT
The room I am in has quite a number of windows, and so there is ambient light in the room. However, none of it is direct on the screen area, and I have a number of trees that help diffuse significant bright sunlight.
Before my screen was delivered, I projected directly on a wall for a couple of weeks. During the day under this circumstance, the image was always visible, but very dark scenes in movies or games could be difficult to view. At night or when overcast, the image was very good even in darker scenes.
Once the ALR screen was installed, light stopped being a problem during the day under all conditions. Movies, shows, and games all look great at any time of day,
The only light issue that can cause any issues is if I turn on bright lights directly at the opposite end of the room, in our kitchen. This is directly in line with the screen and provides the most direct light I can create. Even then, the image is still quite watchable, but it performs best with indirect light in the room (I often have a small lamp on to provide some ambient light at night, for instance).
In the photos, I had two lamps on in my large open living room/kitchen/dining space. While a screen is difficult to capture a photo of, you can see that the image is crisp and clean even with some light in the room.
OPERATION
The projector is easy to use. Some settings are accessed through a dedicated setting menu on the home page, where you can also choose HDMI inputs. Additional settings are accessed through the remote at any time.
The remote feels of very good quality, and is enjoyable to use. It has backlit keys, and feels like a much more premium remote than most electronics come with.
Setup is not hard, but can be slightly fiddly to get the image squared, as much of the adjustment is done by physically adjusting the placement of the projector. This is inherent to all UST projectors.
SOUND
Sound is fine, but not spectacular, from the projector. My room is large enough that it was not powerful enough, and even in a smaller room I would consider using a better sound system. But it is nice that is can be used as an all-in-one unit for video and sound if desired.
PICTURE
The picture is good out of the box. AVS forums has some great guides on how to tweak the settings for the various modes that I found very useful to improve it, but it was very watchable before I tuned the image further.
Focus and uniformity seems excellent on my unit.
MY SETUP
I have the projector mounted on top of a Screen Motorized Slider Tray, which automatically extends to the right spot when I turn the projector on, and then automatically tucks the projector away when I turn it off.
As mentioned, I am using a Nothing Projector 120" Black Series Motorized Floor Rising Screen. The screen is excellent, and I would say either an ALR screen like this or one of the fixed mounted Fresnel screens Formovie offers as part of a kit are essential when using a UST projector.
For sound, I have a Samsung HW-Q990D Q-Series 11.1.4 ch. Wireless Dolby Soundbar. The sound from this system is an excellent match to the picture of the Nexigo Aurora. I tried several other sound options first, and this was the best I tried by a large mile.
CLOSING
The Formovie Aurora Pro is a great projector that provides a beautiful large image. Movies, games, and shows are impressive. This projector will turn your home into a theater. If that is the experience you are after, then I would highly recommend it!
Attached images are full day time, windows open - and a little dimmer than actaul because my iPhone downgrades the image in photo vs video modes. (WTH, Apple???)
Have been happy as a clam with the picture since Christmas, and SUPER satisfied with the 3D! Then ran across these Mardigras videos on youtube. Wow; thanks, AWOL.
Running it at 120" on my old DayLite projector screen, which I still need to replace due to subtle waves and no way to stretch it.
So, looking forward the picture getting even BETTER with a new ALR. Which will be just rediculous.

Next, you plug in the projector, put the batteries in the remote, and turn on the projector.
When I first turned on the projector I was blown away at how a projector, so close to the screen could project such an amazing image. I only needed to make some very minor adjustments to the position of the projector to get the image to fill my screen perfectly.
After about 15 minutes of setting things up, it was time to test this projector.
I still have my other 4K projector connected and hanging from the ceiling so I wanted to play the same video with both projectors to compare the images.
I used a video that uses DOLBY vision and was 4k and played it on both projectors at the same time. I blocked the image on each of them so I could compare the images. WOW, I could not believe the difference.
I have seen and tested a lot of projectors for home theatre and this was by far the best I have ever tested.
A huge plus with this projector is that the lighting source is 3 lasers. This gives a "bulb" life of 25000 hours!! The most I have ever got from a projector with a standard bulb is 4000 hours. Also as the bulb gets older the picture brightness goes down but not with lasers. A laser will maintain close to 100% of its brightness for the full duration of its life, in this case, 25000 hours!!!
You also never know when a bulb is going to stop working. My current projector after 3500 hours made a popping noise and the bulb was done. I had people over to watch a movie and it was very embarrassing. It took 2 weeks and $400 for a new bulb.
There are speakers built into the Formovie Theater projector that are surprisingly good. They sound more like a sound bar for a TV than a tinny little speaker found on most TVs.
For someone who does not want to go through the expense and trouble of setting up an entire theatre room with multiple speakers the built-in speakers are more than adequate. This makes setup so easy.
After trying the projector with this easy setup I next wanted to send the video source to the projector from my 4K Dolby Vision compatible receiver. I have several video devices already attached to my receiver including a TV box, an NVIDIA Shield streaming box, a PS5, and a Blu-ray player.
This allowed me to take full advantage of DOLBY ATMOS since I have 9+ speakers connected to my receiver.
This made this truly a very immersive experience and the best I have ever had or seen.
The Formovie Theater projector is very quiet and the quietest projector I have ever used. You don't even notice it. With my ceiling-mounted projector, the projector is directly above the seating area and can be heard.
If you are familiar with the rainbow effect from other DLP projectors then you know that for some people this can be troublesome. I can always move my eyes in such a way as to create the rainbow effect with other DLP projectors but not with this one. There is no color wheel and I couldn't create the annoying rainbow effect.
There are 3 HDMI inputs one of them being eArc. This allows you to send the audio signal from the projector to your receiver to take advantage of a more advanced audio setup such as one for DOLBY ATMOS. This works great if you are only using a couple of components for your video source but I prefer having all my components plugged into my receiver than the video going to the projector.
There are a lot of settings on this projector. I am not going to get into them all but if you are not a videophile that is not a problem. The settings right out of the box are amazing and I only had to do some small tweaks. I did find the vivid picture mode to be the best and I do recommend that.
I could go on forever on how great this projector is and I do apologize for this long review but I felt that this projector needed and deserved it.
This is a great projector for someone new to home theatre and those more advanced users. For the newbies, the setup is so easy. You could set it on the floor by a white wall, turn it on, and get an amazing image.
Advanced users will not be disappointed either. This is the best image from a home theater projector that I have ever seen and since I will use this for all my TV and movie watching it will save me a lot of money in replacement bulbs over the years.
If I were to watch this projector for 5 hours a day, every day, then the laser would last almost 14 years!!!!
This is not your average projector and the price is that for a premium projector but for all of the features and the quality of the image and the projector it is a very fair price.
I do recommend this projector to anyone wanting one of the best images available from a projector.
The last 1 pictures I have attached are pictures taken of video put out by this projector. The pictures do not do this projector justice but give you an idea of how amazing the images are.
It should be noted that to make a 120” screen, the thing has to be fairly low to the ground if you don’t have an incredibly high ceiling. Mine is in the basement and the ceiling is probably 9’ high. The projector is on a short stand that I found and is about 16” tall. It also has to sit about a foot and a half away from the wall to make the screen that big. If that’s ok with you, this thing is incredible, especially for the price. While shopping around, I obviously found many that were far more expensive. They may be better, but for twice the price? Probably not twice as good. The 4K looks amazing on a screen this size. Setup was very easy. Adjusting the screen size and the corner points is pretty self explanatory, just takes some playing with the positioning of the unit. And the screen adjustment settings. If you bump it or need to move it, getting it back to where you had it is very simple.
I’ve always had Apple TV systems for my other TVs, this uses the google play system which functions very similarly. No real complaints with that. Overall, for an entry level short throw projector with options for a very large screen, I can’t imagine much better for this price point.
It’s easy to set up. We didn’t use the handbook. We watched the demonstration video online. We can download so many Apps. Different apps, I mean it have Chinese show app, Japanese show app and other language apps. It also comes with fire stick. We tried it , it mostly have old shows and the picture quality is not as good. And when we do the screen mirroring it didn’t work so good. Loosing connection often. The sound is good enough for us to watch movies.
Overall we all liking this laser projector.

Projectors are a bit of a luxury items for homes. You can easily get yourself a cheap conventional projector. But it's not something you will want to use everyday. Short throw projector try to address many of the issues with regular projectors, but at a cost.
The Aurora Pro is a great projector. It's amazing how close you can put it to your wall. And in doing so, minimizes so many of the issues of regular projectors. You don't have to have the projector beside you, behind you, or hanging off the ceiling. It goes where your TV would go! Projectors tend to have very loud fans, since projectors get very bright and hence, HOT. This one is minimally loud. You hear it when the movie is quiet, but it's not bad. Colours are great. But mostly bright colours. Dark scenes can be a bit rough. But that's a limitation of projectors. These are not OLED screens with perfect blacks.
The onboard software is fine. But I would just move on to one of your 4K streaming sticks. FYI, the USB slots may not provide enough power, so some streaming sticks may need to be plugged into an adapter straight into the outlet. I appreciate the safety sensor for not looking into the light and causing damage to your eyes. Sound is great, and gets plenty loud. Though I prefer watching quieter at night, and when the volume is low, you can distinctly hear the fan. Another limitation is the surface of your wall. Best to use a screen. You can use your wall, but I found out during testing that many of my walls are not perfectly flat. So when scrolling side to side, you can see the image flow across those bumps in your wall. Lastly, the remote is backlit, which is great, but needs line of sight with the front of the projector. So you can't be tucking the unit away behind any furniture.
it's certainly a luxury item for your movie room. Before considering this, make sure you have the space, the wall area, and a dark room. Short throw projectors are amazing. But they have limitations. If you have a very dedicated use for this, it's a great purchase. Just remember to check off all the boxes before jumping on this great technology.
The Formovie Theater is nothing short of incredible. It's a versatile, well-built and functional piece of hardware that any home-entertainment fanatic would go crazy over.
To begin with the packaging, it's a great unboxing experience overall and doesn't feel anything short of high-premium. The box it comes in is very well-built, sturdy, has lots of protective packaging AND has a handle if you want to re-store and carry the projector. The box includes a number of accessories, including a power cable, remote and various other projector-based items (the usual..). The remote lights up and functions quite well. I find I must actually aim it directly at the projector for it to pick up inputs and can lag/delay on occasion.
Turning on the Aurora for the first time is breathtaking. I truly didn't know what I was expecting and it really did shock me in the best way possible. The projected screen is bright, vibrant and is very difficult to see through. Audio is loud, bassy and overall, very well-balanced for a truly cinema-like experience.
It's built on some kind of custom Android skin, but the array of settings you are given (i.e. built into the software) is very impressive. Lots of things to tinker with and truly maximize not only your visual experience, but also the audio. Focusing the Aurora is easy and thanks to a recent update, now features an improved "focus screen" to really help users sharpen the device to its fullest (based on the wall/backdrop you're projecting on). I love the MEMC mode for gaming and being able to see some of the 30fps exclusive games that I own on Nintendo Switch in a "mimicked" 60fps mode is very cool. Needless to say, current-gen consoles like the PS5 is incredible, as are blu-rays.
There's a generous array of input and output ports and so far I haven't had issues with third-party devices, such as my 4k Fire Stick, picking up the ability to project in 2k and 4k. The first thing I did was start up YouTube on our Fire Stick and take in some glorious 4k content.
So, overall, the Aurora is an amazing device. If you're shopping around for a short throw, 4k laser projector then look no further.
The picture quality is AMAZING! I’m using it with a 100 inch screen from Screen Innovations that is designed for projectors like this and WOW. Ambient light isn’t an issue and at night it looks as good as going to the movies.
Buy this model. Only model so far that support Dolby Vision.
I Just got this today, We just finished renovating our house, and we don't have the proper screen for this type of projector. placing it on one of our cabinets in the meantime, doesnt do it justice, but this will do until we figure out where it's permanent place will be. I had it out of the box and up and running in 3 minutes. I'm sure getting the focus right on the screen will take a little time, using my phones camera doesn't do this projector any justice. since the wall isn't even close to the proper screen needed to display the full resolution, or even allow me to focus the image. The internal sound system is clear and crisp but lacks the deep bass an external subwoofer would provide. Included in the box is a Amazon 4k Firestick, but that's not the your only option for online streaming. The built in app store has plenty of downloads available for the projector, without the Firestick through the built in wifi. As with most projectors, laser or not you still need a very dark room, so the Backlit remote was a really nice touch as well.
The quality is great even against the wall they had homes and not smooth!
Even the built in Bowers and Wilkins speakers sound fantastic and better than my Vizio sound bar.
I'm totally happy with this purchase and would recommend the formovie theater to anyone.
I picked this location because the wall is decently empty and there's a piece of furniture I can use for the projector. It's a good test as it's far from an ideal location.
So - unpacking. It's impossible to miss anything. It's all placed so everything is obvious. Nothing is tucked in little niches in the foam that you don't realize were there until it's too late. Setup takes about an hour. Why so long? Well, there's a 1 gig update to download. We have fiber internet and it still took almost 30 minutes over WiFi - our home network is WiFi 5, not 6. Running a network cable to the projector is not practical, so I'll eventually upgrade the WiFi.
The update install itself took around 5 minutes. The next part is setup - and the instructions kind of skip this. Fortunately, it's really common sense. Go to the options and pick video. Then it's time to adjust. I used 8 point pincushion because the wall is so wavy. I was able to compensate for most of the wall distortions.
Then I downloaded the apps for my streaming services - Crunchyroll, Netflix and Prime video. Crunchy and Prime worked great. The Netflix app was totally bugged - none of the remote inputs worked. The projector includes a 4K Fire TV stick, so you can also use that for your apps.
Video looks good with the lights on, but absolutely amazing with the lights out. Just like a giant TV. I thought I'd try gaming from my laptop. I had to turn off the laptop screen to eliminate lagging (fault of the laptop, not the projector.) I could not get it to go past 60 hz - my gaming laptop is over 160 hz. Then I realized that INPUT accepted is up to 120 hz. Output is 60.
Audio is decent. Not spectacular, but far better than I expected - there's no EQ, so it sounds a bit shallow. There's also not much separation between channels. This setup just begs for a Stonehenge speaker system. The built-in soundbar make this a sweet portable unit - so save that box. The fans are not too bad, like a room fan on low.
The projection size is relative to distance from the wall. I have it 7.5" from the wall and 23 inches off the floor. The resulting image is 84" wide and 37" tall (approximates.) The image starts 20 inches above the projector, so 43 inches off the floor. The further back the projector is from the wall, the larger the image. For the largest image the provector speakers will be around three feet away from the wall. You may want to hang it from the ceiling or pick up a deep piece of furniture to people or pets don't try and squeeze through the gap between the screen and wall.
Finally the remote - it's motion sensitive so when it's picked up all the buttons backlight. It's IR and needs a direct line-of-sight. I found it to be a bit finicky at times unless it was pointed directly at the center of the projector.
The IDEAL theater based on this would have a surround sound speaker system, ALR (Ambient light rejecting) screen and a popcorn machine. I'm going to move my 9.2 sound system to the final room this winds up in.
Gaming. Wow. It takes some getting used to. When the alien Cronenberg-esq monstrosities jump out at you, they REALLY jump out at you. I'm seriously thinking about giving Dead Space another playthrough with this setup. Latency is a measly 12 ms. It accepts 120hz input - also amazing. This will give you a life-sized, 4K super gaming screen!
Overall it's an incredible system and supports front and rear screen projection. It has a plethora of amazing features.
The price hurts the eyes but it is a high-end product that is well worth

This Formovie is a total game changer. We have ours set up in our game room and watched football during Thanksgiving day. It has amazing picture quality and can be used in the daytime / daylight with the lights on. Sound quality was on point too. The 4K laser projector included a Fire Stick which is a great add-on feature. It was very easy to set up and is easy to use. The projector itself is a larger unit so ensure you have space to place it. This is an excellent, quality 4K laser projector - very versatile and easy to use.
The projector works fantastic in terms of picture quality, vibrant colors and in built audio.
The performance on the wall was poor but excellent over ALR SCREEN.
I used first on wall but then moved to silver ticket grey screen of 128”

Ne souhaitant pas disposer d'un écran spécialisé qui occuperait le mur de mon salon, je l'utilise sur un mur blanc. Et la qualité est malgré tout extraordinaire.
Sur mur blanc, il peut être utilisé la journée mais il esr préférable de ne pas avoir une fenêtre directement à côté et qui apporterait trop de lumière. Néanmoins, ça marche plutot bien malgré tout.
Le plein potentiel se passe donc en soirée où les couleurs sont pratiquement dignes d'un Oled pour en avoir posséder 2 par le passé. Les noirs sont très corrects également pour un vidéoprojecteur.
Le son bower et wilkins qui accepte le dolby Atmos et dts:x est de très bonne facture également et permet de ne pas avoir obligatoirement une barre de son.
Même si un peu de basses en plus serait appréciable.
Après avoir testé le jmgo et posséder plusieurs tv oled, je ne regrette pas cet achat qui me permet de regarder des films en 150" au maximum.
